How long does it take for matter to decompose?

The decomposition time depends mainly on the environment in which it is found. To meet the EN13432 standard, the material must achieve 90% biodegradation in less than 6 months.
The decay of residues, the concentration of heavy metals and of certain chemical compounds are also taken into account in the process.
